I have met Saint John Paul II a couple times in my life. I actually have a picture of me with him. Great honor, I was so blessed to be able to meet a future saint. When others see that picture, they would say: Oh, how lucky you are to be so close to him. Perhaps you met him too and also have that precious photograph hanging on your wall. Or maybe you met other very famous, influential, or even saintly people. Others would say to you: how lucky you are, how blessed to be able to be that close to that person. The woman from the Gospel reading today is praising Jesus’ Mother, saying that she is so blessed to become a Mother of God. But Jesus replied: “Rather, blessed are those who hear the word of God and observe it.” Whether you met someone famous in your life or not is not that important; the essential thing is that you have met Jesus. But it is not enough to meet Him and to know Him. Now you need to hear his word and observe it in your life.
