Saturday of the 3 week of Advent ‘b’

We don’t know exactly how long Zechariah and Elizabeth prayed to have a child, but it seems to me that they had prayed a long time since they were already advanced in age. Today in the Gospel the Angel came to Zechariah and told him that his prayers had been heard and answered and he will have a son. Elizabeth and Zechariah teach us that we should never stop praying, even if something seems impossible to us; it’s still possible to God. They also teach us how precious is a human life. And, in our world, there are many who don’t want their children, but there are still those who pray day and night to be able to have a child. So, I hope that God will answer the latter’s prayers as He did to the parents of John the Baptist.
