Saturday of the 6 week of Easter ‘b’

Have you ever wondered why most of the prayers that we use usually end with Jesus’ name? For example: ‘In Jesus’ name, we pray’, ‘We ask this through Jesus Christ Our Lord’, ‘Through your Son Jesus Christ’. It is because in the Gospel reading today, Jesus promises us that the Father will listen to anyone who prays in Jesus’ name, and -even more- the Father will give you what you ask of Him in Jesus’ name. “Amen, amen, I say to you, whatever you ask the Father in my name he will give you.” God knows what is best for us, and no, He will not grant each of our requests. But if we keep asking Him in Jesus’ name, to love us, to forgive us our sins and to grant us eternal life in happiness, He will.
