“People were bringing children to Jesus that he might touch them.” Why would they do that? Because they wanted their children to be blessed by Jesus for a good and healthy life, and they wanted them to meet Jesus. Little children wouldn’t have come to Jesus on their own; they needed adults to bring them. And Jesus says that the Kingdom of God belongs to those children. He wants them close; He wants them to come. Some people get quite angry today when the church requires a godfather and a godmother to be a practicing Catholic. Why? My brother is a great person, but he doesn’t practice the faith. But many say he would be a wonderful godfather. Jesus wants us adults to bring our children to Him, so they can meet Him and be blessed by Him. So how can someone who doesn’t come to Jesus on his own, bring a little child to Him? We all are called to first follow and come to Jesus, and then to bring our loved ones and our children to Him.
