Saturday of the Fifteenth Week in Ordinary Time ‘b’

This gospel reading for today reminds me of the Solemnity of the Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ -- Corpus Christi. In our parish, on that day we have a procession around the church. The priest or the deacon carries the monstrance with the Blessed Sacrament, people follow, pray, sing. It is a joyful celebration. We simply follow Jesus, bringing to Him our needs, our concerns, our joys. We want to be with Him, we want to follow Him. Every so often, during that procession, the crowds are receiving many blessings from Jesus. It is like that crowd from the Gospel reading today: “Many people followed him, and he cured them all.” We come to Jesus to be cured, to be forgiven, to be present, and to be blessed.
