Saturday of the Fourteenth Week in Ordinary Time ‘a’

And do not be afraid of those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul; rather, be afraid of the one who can destroy both soul and body in Gehenna.” It seems to me that many people today forget that there is a need to take care of their soul in the same way as they take care of their bodies. Each morning I see people walking, jogging, exercising, just to look better, be healthier, and maybe even live longer. And nothing wrong with that because we need to take care of our physical bodies. However, taking care of our soul is even more important. Why? Jesus reminds us today that our lives are very fragile and can be easily taken away from us. That’s why we should worry about our souls that live forever. This is why we are given this time right now, today, to perform those exercises that would provide for us the life in never ending happiness in Heaven. Don’t worry about your life here too much, it will end one way or the other. Rather worry about your soul.
