It is always very nice to see young altar servers during our Sunday Masses. It is a wonderful ministry for our young people. Each year about this time, when children come back to school, we try to convince them to become an altar server. And most of them are eager and willing to be part of this ministry, and so they sign up. However, many times some of these children don’t come to mass - not because they had something else to do, but because their parents don’t bring them to church. Young children can’t come to church without a parent or guardian, even if they really want to. It is our responsibility not only to talk to and teach them about our religion and faith, but to show them how important that faith is to us and to practice it together with them. Jesus said: “Let the children come to me, and do not prevent them; for the Kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.”
