Saturday of the Second Week of Advent ‘a’

Before Jesus appointed his twelve disciples, He said: “The harvest is abundant, but the laborers are few; so ask the master of the harvest to send out laborers for his harvest.” If you ever visit a chapel in the major seminary in Krakow, you will find these words written on the wall. They are there to remind the seminarians, future priests, about their mission: “Go to the lost sheep of the house of Israel. As you go, make this proclamation: The Kingdom of heaven is at hand.” So, I used to think that proclaiming the gospel and spreading the good news on to others is reserved for priests and religious/ How wrong was that. That mission is entrusted to every baptized person, to you and to me. We all are Jesus’ disciples who must go into the world and bring the joy, love, forgiveness, and the good news of salvation.
