Saturday of the Second Week of Advent ‘a’

Mt 17:9a, 10-13

John the Baptist cared -- cared about the others, about their salvation. That’s why he was strongly reminding all the people to repent and to prepare the way for the Lord. He was not afraid to tell the truth even if it was difficult to accept. This is the reason why he was beheaded by Herod. Today we want to be ‘politically correct’ and not offend anyone, so we would rather remine silent event if someone needs to be corrected and to hear about repentance. This Advent season we are not only reminded to repent ourselves but to help others to prepare their ways for the Lord. And maybe we don’t need to be as strong as John the Baptist, but it is important to show our concern about salvation of another person.
