Saturday of the Third Week of Easter ‘b’

“Many of the disciples of Jesus who were listening said, ‘This saying is hard, who can accept it?’ . . . . As a result of this, many of his disciples returned to their former way of life and no longer walked with him.” Nothing changed - right? After all those years nothing really changed in this matter. Jesus’ words are very challenging and most times too difficult to understand even today. Jesus words are in the contrary to this world and to the teaching of this world. This is why many people simply walk away from religion, from Christianity from the challenging teaching of our church. Jesus wants us to follow Him, yet He never said it would be easy. Sadly, for many of our people, our young people, family members and friends Jesus words became too difficult to accept- “As a result of this, many of his disciples returned to their former way of life and no longer walked with him.” You and I have a choice. We are not being forced into anything, and Jesus is asking us today just like He asked His disciples: “’do you also want to leave?’ Simon Peter answered him, ‘Master, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life.We have come to believe and are convinced that you are the Holy One of God.’”
