Saturday of the Thirty- Third week in Ordinary Time ‘c’

Sadducees were people who didn’t believe in the resurrection. For them the physical life on this earth was the only life -- very sad. For those people, there is no hope that our live will continue, that they will be different, but will not end after we die. This world would have been a much better place if people believed in the promises and warnings that come from God. However, if you don’t believe in the next life to come and you don’t believe in God’s judgment, then you won’t care about anything or anyone. You would try to take advantage of this life only. We often hear -- life is too short, take advantage of it, don’t worry about anything. No, life is not too short -- life never ends; there is a resurrection. For those of us who believe in the promises of Christ, we need to live this life here keeping in mind, that there is more to come, and we need to earn it. “Those who are deemed worthy to attain to the coming age and to the resurrection of the dead neither marry nor are given in marriage. They can no longer die, for they are like angels; and they are the children of God because they are the ones who will rise.”
