Saturday of the Twenty-Eight Week in Ordinary Time ‘c’

“Jesus said to his disciples: I tell you, everyone who acknowledges me before others, the Son of Man will acknowledge before the angels of God. But whoever denies me before others will be denied before the angels of God.” It is easy to hear this but more difficult to implement it in life, and at times we even forget these words when we are afraid to defend our Christian values, when we are embarrassed to pray before a meal in a busy restaurant, or to say NO to sinful and immoral actions that we may be invited to pursue by others. Today we are reminded to acknowledge who we are, in whom we believe, and to defend our Christian values. If we don’t and in moments of weakness deny that we know Christ and are ready to defend Him and his teaching, then one day He may deny us, saying -- I don’t know you. We want to be acknowledged by Christ, so let us always acknowledge Him.
