Saturday of the Twenty Second Sunday in Ordinary Time ‘a’

Why did God give us the ten commandments? Sometimes I think that He wanted to control us, or to tell us what to do and what not to do. Today people get easily offended if you tell them that they should change or if you correct them. I often get offended if someone tells me what to do. However, God loves us, and He didn’t give us His instructions to limit us in anyway, but to help us live better lives. That’s why Jesus defends His disciples when on a Sabbath they were going through the field of gain and were picking the heads of grain and eating them. We are not made for the sabbath, but the sabbath is made for us. We can’t become obsessed with the law and commandments, but we should follow them because God gave them out of love for us.
