Second Sunday of Easter ‘b’

Thomas couldn’t believe in the resurrection. That’s why he said to the disciples that unless he could see and touch Jesus, he wouldn’t believe. And Thomas was given that honor to see, touch, and to talk with the Risen Lord, and so he proclaimed with joy “my Lord and my God!” And Jesus said to Thomas: "Have you come to believe because you have seen me? Blessed are those who have not seen and have believed." I must admit that I take these words very personally. I believe these words are addressed to me today and to all of us, who can’t touch the body of Jesus, we can’t put a finger into His wounds, yet we believe in Him and proclaim after Thomas ‘my Lord and my God!’ No, it is not easy to keep strong faith, and I have many doubts, and so have you. But we do believe. We do believe deep in our hearts that there is a better life than this, that there is resurrection, and that we have God who loved us so much that He gave us His only Son to save us from death. How blessed we are!
