We all sometimes get distracted when we pray. Often, we struggle with prayer, not knowing what prayer to say or what words to use. Maybe you feel that God doesn’t listen, and so your prayer doesn’t satisfy you the way you hoped. What to do then? How to pray? The answer is simple -- just like the disciple from the Gospel reading today -- ask Jesus to help you with your prayer, ask Him to teach you how to pray and what words to use. You don’t need to be distracted when using these familiar prayers you say each day. Try something different, try talking to your God using your own words. Let Him talk too and try to listen. Ask Jesus -- help me to pray, teach me how to pray, make my prayer meaningful and beautiful. "Lord, teach us to pray just as John taught his disciples."
