Today we celebrate the solemnity of one of the greatest saints - the earthly father of Jesus Christ, husband of Mary - St. Joseph. Joseph was the one who took care of Mary and her Son Jesus Christ. Who knows what would have happened to Mary and Jesus if Joseph was not with them, if he decided to leave them. And as you know, Jospeh had his doubts, a huge doubt when he found out that his wife Mary was pregnant. Joseph wanted to divorce her quietly, separate from her, and go his own way. But Joseph did not make any decision out of anger or impulse. Joseph was able to slow down, to listen to God, and to pray before deciding what he might have regretted in the future. The angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream and said, “Joseph, son of David, do not be afraid to take Mary your wife into your home. For it is through the Holy Spirit that this child has been conceived in her. She will bear a son and you are to name him Jesus, because he will save his people from their sins.” We all make some bad decisions in life, usually because we react impulsively. Perhaps today we should look at Joseph and learn how to slow down, pray, and ask God to help us make only good decisions in life.
