At the very end, after the Angel Gabriel announced to Mary that she would become the Mother of God, Mary said, “Behold, I am the handmaid of the Lord. May it be done to me according to your word.” Such a wonderful proof of humble trust in God’s plan. We all can learn so much from Mary. God has a plan for each one of us. However, sometimes we struggle with His will and disagree with what He has planned for us. When we pray, we often toss on God our own plans and agenda, but then we forget to listen to what He wants from us. Mary was able to listen, and then she admitted that God made her the way she was, that all she had come from God and belongs to Him. ‘I am the handmaid of the Lord’- she said. How often do we say that? How often do we thank God for creating us and for giving us life? All we have belongs to God and we should return it to him.
