A person who is a thankful person is also a humble person. But the one who does not show gratitude is filled with pride. There are many people today who think that they are entitled to have, to receive, to gain, and to be acknowledged by others. Christ doesn’t like a proud person, but a humble one. So many times, He reminded His disciples to be humble, which to me equals- being thankful. Today is Thanksgiving Day, a day in which we are reminded to be thankful for what we have. The gospel reading this day presents us with ten lepers who asked Jesus to heal them, and after He performed that miracle, there was only one who came back to thank Him. Think about your prayer life and how many of your prayers certain on asking God for favors. But how much time do you spend thanking Him for what you have? We may not have as much as other people, but there is always something to be grateful for. Pray today and simply say -- thank you, God, for my family, for my spouse, for my child, for my country, for the church that I have, for the sacraments, and for the gift of my faith.
