The Baptism of our Lord is the day when we recall the events that happened by the Jordan river when Christ, the Son of God, asked to be baptized by John. Do we need more proof of the fact that our God became human, just like us, that God became one of us? When Jesus asked John to baptize Him, “John tried to prevent him, saying, ‘’I need to be baptized by you, and yet you are coming to me?” Jesus didn’t have to do this. He is God, He has no sin. But as you remember in his letter to Philippians, Saint Paul said that Jesus humbled Himself and became one of us, even to the point of death on the cross. Our God wanted to prove to us that even though He is God, He is a very humble God that loves us and wants to experience all that we experience in this life. Jesus asked to be baptized to prove to us His divine nature, that He is God and also human.
