Yesterday, on the Solemnity of All the Saints, we remembered all those blessed and privileged people that received the greatest honor that a person can ever achieve, which is sanctity. All these countless number of saints showed us how to live in order to achieve eternal life. Today, on the memorial of all the faithful departed, or All Souls Day, we pray for those who left us and perhaps still need us to pray for them, so that our merciful God forgive them all the lingering effects pf their sins and open the gates of paradise to them also. This day reminds me of the importance of praying for our faithful departed. We don’t know if they still need our prayers or not. Perhaps they are heavenly saints already. However, we are invited to pray for all of them since one day we may need this kind of prayer too. Today Jesus tells us: “this is the will of my Father, that everyone who sees the Son and believes in him may have eternal life, and I shall raise him on the last day.” Today we come together as believers, knowing that God is merciful and through our prayers will give eternal life to all our loved ones and one day to us also.
