Yesterday we remembered all those wonderful men and women who are rewarded with heaven. They no longer need our prayers, but instead they can now intercede for us before God. We can now ask them to bring our prayers before the Throne of God. Today, we remember all our beloved dead who may not yet be in heaven, but still need our prayers. So, let us turn again to our saints and ask them to bring to God your prayer for your beloved dead. Perhaps you may turn to a saint who has the same name as your departed relative. Ask him or her: Saint Mary, pray for my mother Mary; Saint Francis, please pray for my husband Frank; Saint John, pray for my son John, or Saint Monica, pray for my grandmother Monica. This is the best gift you can offer today to your relatives who have died. Jesus reminds us today that: “Everything that the Father gives me will come to me, and I will not reject anyone who comes to me, because I came down from heaven not to do my own will but the will of the one who sent me.”
