Third Sunday of Advent ‘b’

I think we all like when others portray us as a good person. When they speak well about us. We don’t like to be criticized and we don’t want others to speak badly about us. Perhaps at times we make up things about ourselves just to feel better about ourselves and so others might think we are better than we really are. John the Baptist in the Gospel reading for today was being questioned- are you the Christ, maybe you are Elijah, are you the Prophet? John was portrayed by others as somebody great, but he was honest and humble enough to say: I am not what you think I am. Today John the Baptist teaches us that we should always be as honest as we can. Others should always respect and accept us for what we truly are.
