Thursday in the Octave of Easter

“Peace be with you.” Jesus offers us peace, but this is not the peace that we usually pray for, i.e., the peace that will end wars and hatred in this world. No. Jesus offers us more than that. He offers us peace of heart and mind, that whatever difficulties and tribulations we might face in our lives, as long as we believe in Christ, we will accept them with peace and the hope that everything in this world will pass away. But the peace that Jesus offers to us will never pass away. We need to pray for peace, but not only for peace in this world, but for the peace that Jesus offers to His disciples -- peace in our souls.
