Thursday of the 1 week in ordinary time ‘c’

Mk 1:40-45

During our life we all come with many different requests to God. And this is a great thing to have, a God whom we can pray to and bring Him all our worries and prayers. Even God wants us to put our trust in Him and come to Him when we feel like we are weary and burdened. But I think that at times we simply think that we deserve or are entitled to the things we ask for. This is a bad attitude. I am no different, and I often catch myself requesting things that I want from God. And there are times when I say, God, take care of my friends and my family and of me; O God protect me, please make sure I travel safely and give me what I ask for…. However today I learn that God is not here to fulfill my wish list. He knows what is best for me even before I ask for it. That’s why when we pray, we should rather follow the poor leper’s prayer from the Gospel reading today and say: “If you wish, you can make me clean.” Only if you wish. “Moved with pity, he stretched out his hand, touched the leper, and said to him, I do will it. Be made clean.”
