Thursday of the 1 week of Lent ‘b’

Writer's picture: Fr. KrisFr. Kris

Christmas time, birthdays, graduations, anniversaries, and many other great occasions for which we give serious thought to the kind of gift we will give for the people we love. Those of you who have children or grandchildren know well that if you could, you would give anything to your child or grandchild. Why? Because you love them, and you want to make them happy. But at the same time, you also know that you can’t spoil them; there is a limit, and you can’t always give them exactly what they ask for. We are all God’s beloved children, and Jesus encourages us today also: “Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find. “But at the same time God, like a good parent, knows what is best for us and that it is not always what we want or desire at that particular moment. God doesn’t want to spoil us. Ask and it will be given to you, but sometimes not exactly what you are asking for.
