Have you ever heard someone say things like: why do I need to go to confession? I haven’t killed anyone. I don’t steal, I don’t cheat, I am a good Christian. And I am sure that he or she is a very good Christian. But just because they don’t steal, or kill, or cheat doesn’t mean that they are not sinners just like everybody else, including me and you. Jesus Christ wants from us much more than only avoiding mortal sins. He wants us to fight with even the smallest sins and temptations that come our way so we can become holy and exemplary. Jesus says: “You have heard that it was said to your ancestors, you shall not kill; and whoever kills will be liable to judgment. But I say to you, whoever is angry with his brother will be liable to judgment.”
