It is hard to be a Christian today. It is so difficult to bring Christian values into this world which is, at times, so ‘upside down’. It’s a world in which many people value power, richness, immoral ways of life, using one another for one’s own gain and benefits. As Christians, we are called to bring just the opposite to this world, namely: peace, love, forgiveness, a good word, a smile, understanding, charity and prayer. We are called to bring Christ to this broken world. And no, it’s not easy because others may laugh at us, may say -- are you crazy! Who are you to tell me how to live. Or even, I don’t care about your love, I don’t want your peace or forgiveness. This is what Jesus meant in the Gospel for today when he said: “Behold, I am sending you like lambs among the wolves.” And yes, despite all the difficulties and hardships, our role is to be the lambs not the wolves.
