No matter how good you are or how good the intentions you have, and no matter that you want help others, there still will always be those who will question your intentions or even will accuse you of acting to gain something for yourself. Those who make accusations like these, they are mostly people who are jealous of your generous heart and they themselves are unwilling to make any sacrifices to help others. Yet at the same time, I hope we are not like those people who would always question other people’s good intentions. Look what happened in the Gospel reading today when some criticized Jesus for helping a man by driving out a demon from him. Instead of rejoicing they said: “By the power of Beelzebul, the prince of demons, he drives out demons. Others, to test him, asked him for a sign from heaven.” Only God knows our intentions, and only He knows the intentions of others. Let us never question the good intentions of other people, and may we never be stopped from doing good deeds only because others question our good intentions.
