Thursday of the 30 week in ordinary time

LK 13:31-35

Why do I keep my faith, and why do I make all kinds of sacrifices if the world around me tells me the opposite? Don’t go to church, it’s Sunday, just sleep late. Enjoy your day, church is boring. Don’t pray because, as you can see, often your prayers don’t change anything. Don’t volunteer in the food pantry because nobody would appreciate or say thank you. Why do you fight for the protection of human life from conception to natural death; others will laugh at you? We all face these temptations of this world because the world doesn’t want us to believe and make sacrifices for the sake of the Gospel. It happened to Jesus to: “Some Pharisees came to Jesus and said, “Go away, leave this area because Herod wants to kill you.” Yes, if you pursue, you will die! But Jesus knows better. He knows that the world will be tempting Him to leave the cross and run away, but He also knows that by making that sacrifice He will change the world. He will save each one of us. Jesus tells us today that we are blessed if we keep going and keep believing- “Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord.”
