Strong words in the Gospel today. Jerusalem, a holy city, a chosen city, will be smashed to the ground. The enemy will not leave one stone upon another within you. I think we need to be careful and not think that because we were baptized, and we go to church, and we receive the sacraments, and we say our prayers, that by all of this we are special people. It doesn’t work that way. Just because Jerusalem was considered a holy city, people in that city were not necessarily holy and good. In the same manner, just because I am Catholic doesn’t automatically make me a holy and good person. Rather, because I am a Catholic and a follower of Christ, therefore I need to become holy and good. I need to get into action and bring the Gospel to the world.
