At the end of the Gospel today we read that Jesus “remained outside in deserted places, and people kept coming to him from everywhere.” Why did they keep coming to Him? Most likely for healing, since many of them witnessed or heard from others that He miraculously healed a leper who begged Him for help. When you are at church on Sunday and when you look around, you also see people that come to Jesus from everywhere and for different reasons. You will see people of different cultures. They may speak another language, they may be coming from some distant places just to come to Christ who is present among us in the Eucharist and to ask Him, just like that leper: “Lord, please make me clean.” So, people come to Jesus from everywhere for different reasons. Some truly need Him in their lives, some need a blessing, some ask for healing, some want to worship Him, but some only come to fulfill their Sunday obligation, or meet a fellow parishioner. How about you, why do you come to Jesus?
