Thursday of the Fourteenth Week in Ordinary Time ‘c’

It always amazes me when I see so many young people, adults, and the elderly simply offering their time and talents to help others. I see this in my parish when people volunteer at a food pantry, or with various ministries in the parish, or they generously respond to collections taken up for the mission, or for the people in Ukraine and many other places. It amazes me when I see people visiting the sick, the homebound, often bringing them Holy Communion and spending time with them. We don’t talk about this often, but we are blessed with wonderful exemplary Christians who are always willing to help. And they do that because they hear the call of our Lord and want to respond to it with their lives. “Jesus said to his Apostles: As you go, make this proclamation: ‘The Kingdom of heaven is at hand.’ Cure the sick, raise the dead, cleanse the lepers, drive out demons. Without cost you have received; without cost you are to give.” This is how others will recognize that we are Jesus’ disciples.
