Thursday of the Second Week of Easter ‘b’

Why do we do all of this? Why do we pray, why do we try to live a good moral life, why do we come to Mass, why do we ask God to forgive us our sins? We know why. It is because when the time comes for us to leave this world, we want to live eternally. We want to gain life that will never end. More than that - we want to live forever and always be happy. Most of us would probably agree that we like our lives here, that we have been blessed with many things. However, this life is not free from sadness, grief, difficulties, and challenges of all kinds. Now, can you imagine living forever and being free from all those problems? To live forever and always be happy, without any tears, pain, sadness? So, that’s why we believe in the words of our Risen Lord and try to follow God’s commandments to gain that wonderful life.  Jesus said that “Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life, but whoever disobeys the Son will not see life, but the wrath of God remains upon him.”
