Would you like to go to heaven? Of course you would! We all try to go through this life so one day we will earn eternal life. We receive the sacraments, we feed our souls with the Eucharist, we try to avoid sins and follow the commandments -- because we want to go to heaven. And perhaps we get upset with those who live sinfully, abuse their power, use and scandalize others. We know that one day we will be judged, and we hope that those greatest sinners will be punished. However, Jesus reminds us today that it is not up to us who will be saved and who will be condemned, but it is only up to God. So, Jesus teaches us today that: “The Kingdom of heaven is like a net thrown into the sea, which collects fish of every kind. When it is full they haul it ashore and sit down to put what is good into buckets. What is bad they throw away.” Yes, we must live according to God’s will. However, in the end, only God will decide to whom the gates of paradise will be opened.
