Thursday of the Sixth Week of Easter ‘a’

Jesus said: “Amen, amen, I say to you, you will weep and mourn, while the world rejoices; you will grieve, but your grief will become joy.” We all remember some events from the past that made us confused, made us sad or even angry. Let’s say that when you were still a teenager, you broke up with that boyfriend or girlfriend and you thought that your world would collapse. But after some time, you realized that there are much bigger problems that life throws at us. And now looking from this perspective, you understand better and can even laugh at those silly problems in life you have experienced. Perhaps you didn’t pass that final exam at school. Back then it was such a tragedy, but now, you don’t even remember it. In a similar sense Jesus is telling His disciples and us, that even if we experience moments of grief, sadness, or confusion, one day we will be rewarded for all that, and it will turn into eternal joy.
