“If you bring your gift to the altar, and there recall that your brother has anything against you, leave your gift there at the altar, go first and be reconciled with your brother, and then come and offer your gift.” I don’t know if you remember this, or if you practiced it in your family, but when I was a child, I used to spend my summer months at my grandparents’ house in a very small village. Each Sunday before going to mass, we all had to hug each other and apologize for whatever wrong we may have done against each other. My grandmother always reminded us that we can’t receive Holy Communion and at the same time be angry with others. What a wonderful tradition! How about you? Are you angry with someone, don’t speak to a certain person, or had a big fight with your friend or a family member? Jesus wants us to be free from any anger before we come and offer Him our gifts. We need to be able to let it go, try to forget, and stop being angry, whenever we come to worship our God.
