Thursday of the Third Week of Advent ‘b’

Elizabeth said to Mary: “Blessed are you who believed that what was spoken to you by the Lordwould be fulfilled.” In all of the things that we witness today in our communities and in our world -- things like injustice, hatred, wars, people turning away from God -- it is difficult to have strong faith. Yes, we pray, we ask for peace, we read the scriptures and hear the Good News. However, at times we think that things are getting worse and worse. That’s why many Christians lose their faith, lose their patience. Mary witnessed similar things back then, but she persevered in her faith in God until the end. That’s why she was praised by Elizabeth, “Blessed are you who believed that what was spoken to you by the Lord would be fulfilled.”  Blessed are you who kept the faith despite all the challenges and difficulties. In times of trouble and doubts, let us always turn to Mary and ask her to help us keep her faith.
