Thursday of the Third Week of Easter ‘a’

We are so concerned about our life here on earth that we would do almost anything and spend all kinds of money to extend our life span, to have a few extra years here. People frequently go to the doctor for checkups, some eat a healthy diet, some exercise, and some spend money on all kinds of beauty products. There is nothing wrong with that; we all want to live a long and healthy life. But no matter what we do, and how much money we spend, we will all die, we all will leave this world -- old and young, healthy and ill, rich and poor, everybody. And then what? Jesus said: “I am the living bread that came down from heaven; whoever eats this bread will live forever; and the bread that I will give is my Flesh for the life of the world.” Isn’t this awesome? Jesus offers us a remedy for the life that will never end. More than that, He offers us a remedy for an eternal life without pain, without sadness, without illness, without any troubles that we encounter in this life. What do we need to do to have this happy life forever? It’s so simple. We just need to come and eat the Body of Christ -- so simple! It is for free and it is offered to us each day. I just wonder why so many people separate themselves from that food, from the Eucharist, from the Body and Blood of Christ. If you want, you can live happily forever!
