Thursday of the Third Week of Lent ‘b’

Sometimes we don’t believe in the good intentions of another person. Perhaps you were in a situation when you needed help and someone that you least expected to reach out to you offered you that help. What did you think? Did you feel suspicious? Why would that person like to help me - you may have thought to yourself - she doesn’t even know me nor even talk to me often. Maybe she wants something from me for her help. There are many situations like that when we feel suspicious about another person - why she or he did this or that. What is the reason they offered a large monetary gift for a charity - for their own popularity and fame? People have different intentions and motivations, some of them are very moving and beautiful when they help others out of love for them. But sometimes they do it just for their own gain. Jesus always did and will always do good to us and others out of a perfect love for us. He only wants what is best for you and me. Yet some people of His time could not believe that something good can be done freely and out of love. That’s why they accused Jesus and said: "By the power of Beelzebul, the prince of demons, he drives out demons." We also need to be very careful before we start judging other people’s good deeds.
