Thursday of the Thirteenth Week in Ordinary Time ‘c’

Mt 9:1-8

This story from the Gospel today clearly shows me that for Jesus, it is far more important to heal our soul than our physical body. When some people brought to the Lord the paralytic who couldn’t move and was lying on a stretcher, Jesus didn’t say -- please rise -- and then, after that, the poor man’s physical illness was restored back to normal. And then he said -- now I forgive your sins. No! Jesus did just the opposite. First, He forgave the sins and then miraculously healed the man. That should teach us something -- Jesus doesn’t care much about our physical appearance, but He cares only about our soul. He wants us to be free from sins and temptations. That’s why He is always willing to forgive us our sins. I bet that you pray most often for physical health of yourself and your loved once, but not as much to ask Jesus to free you and your family from sin and evil. “When Jesus saw their faith, he said to the paralytic, Courage, child, your sins are forgiven.”
