Thursday of the Twenty First Week in Ordinary Time ‘a’

My mom was the one who took care of our house. She didn’t work, she stayed home taking care of us, her children, and made sure there was food on our table, that we were wearing clean clothes, and our home was always clean and neat. Unfortunately, I didn’t learn those great habits from my mom, so I usually clean my house once a week or before hosting a guest. My mom was always prepared for an unexpected visit from a friend or a family member. She always had something good to eat, and the house was always clean and ready. This is how we should treat our souls -- simply making sure that we are ALWAYS ready to receive the greatest guest, Jesus Christ. See, some of us will go to confession only if they must face the death of a loved one, or before a long journey, or in moments of difficulty. It is not limited to confession only. We should be prepared to meet Jesus at each and every second of our life, not only when we expect to meet Him. It may happen today or in 100 years from now -- we don’t know. “Stay awake! For you do not know on which day your Lord will come.”
