Unfortunately, there are too many things in this world that divide us from one another. It was always like that, and we can’t change it. There are different opinions, political views, different cultures, races, languages, even the variety of ways of being a supporter of certain sport teams might bring divisions among us. Today Jesus warns us that even His presence in this world will bring division among us. How true that is! From the beginning there were those who hated Christ, persecuted His church, and killed His disciples. And today is no different -- there are Christians that are being killed for their religion. Even in our communities and families there are divisions because others can’t accept the fact that you became Jesus’ disciple. Jesus is not trying to scare us, but to warn us that not everybody will accept us because of His name. We just need to be prepared for that. “From now on a household of five will be divided.”
