Thursday of the Twenty Sixth Week in Ordinary Time ‘a’

Yesterday Jesus reminded us that we can’t look back, but should use what we have today, whoever we are today, for proclaiming His Kingdom. Today He tells us not to be discourage by continuing the same mission just because someone might reject us, or won’t listen to us, or argue against us. There are times when I myself wonder if what I am doing as a priest makes sense, especially in those moments when I am being criticized or when some people don’t appreciate my work and my efforts. I need to remember that not everybody is able to accept Jesus’s teaching. That’s why some would simply ridicule us for our faith, and there will be some that will reject us, or maybe even hurt us. “Whatever town you enter and they do not receive you, go out into the streets and say, 'The dust of your town that clings to our feet, even that we shake off against you.'” We need to keep asking the Lord to increase the courage in each one of us to bring Him to this world.
