Mary was so happy to finally recognize and meet the Lord after His resurrection. She was overjoyed, and so she wanted just to stay with Him, not let Him go anywhere. She was afraid that she might lose Him again. However, Jesus gives her a specific mission: “Stop holding on to me, for I have not yet ascended to the Father. But go to my brothers and tell them, ‘I am going to my Father and your Father, to my God and your God.’” We may share a similar moment to Mary’s when we experience a very close presence of the Lord. It may happen during private adoration, or during the Eucharist. It may be when you look at the beauty of creation while hiking a mountain or in many other places. Just like Mary, you want to enjoy that close presence of God and just keep it to yourself. But just like Mary, we must take this presence of the Lord and bring it to others who are still waiting to hear that Jesus truly was raised form the dead. We too must bring this great news of Easter to this world. Stop holding on to me but go to my brothers and sisters and tell them that I am alive, that there is no death!
