Tuesday of Holy Week

Promises, good intentions, awesome obligations -- we all make these at times. Especially when we fall into sin, and we feel terribly sorry for what we have done. Then we make promises of ‘never again’ -- that from now on, I will be good, I will not swear, cheat, steal, hurt, even that I will start praying more, going to church, and I will never ever again break God’s commandments. But eventually we hurt our Loving God again and again. Luckily our God is forgiving, and He knows that most times we are unfaithful to our promises. Even Simon Peter made a great promise to the Lord when he said: “I will lay down my life for you. Jesus answered, will you lay down your life for me? Amen, amen, I say to you, the cock will not crow before you deny me three times.” It is not so much about our major obligations, but about being sorry for what we have done. For when you are truly sorry, then God will always forgive you your sin.
