Children know their parents very well. They can read them very quickly, so if they want to get something, they will know how to make it happen. They know what makes their parents angry and where their limits are. I remember when I was very young and wanted to spend a late evening with my friends, I would need to get permission from my mom or dad. Sometimes my friend would jump in and say, let me talk to your mom! But I never agreed to that because I knew I had to talk to her in order to get the permission, because I knew how. Today in the Gospel, Jesus tells us how to talk to His Father. Being the Son of God, He knew exactly what to say to the Father. That’s why He is giving us some tips today: “This is how you are to pray: Our Father, who art in Heaven…” And from that moment on, He became our Father too. We should teach others how to pray and how to speak with the Father.
