You are the salt, you are the light, you are the city set on the mountain that can’t be hidden! Remember what happened to Jesus’ disciples after the resurrection of Jesus? They locked themselves in a room in the fear of the Jews. Jesus doesn’t want his disciples to be scared and hide themselves. He doesn’t want us to keep our faith only to ourselves. He wants us to shine forth, to be visible, to influence our world for the better like salt which has a real and distinctive taste. We ought to bring to this world Jesus, but we can’t do that by being afraid and hiding ourselves in fear of others. The disciples understood that; Pentecost gave them courage. We too need to ask for the Holy Spirit and shine in this dark world.
