“Whoever loves his life loses it, and whoever hates his life in this world will preserve it for eternal life.” How to understand this? What does Jesus mean? How do you understand it? Because for me this simply means -- don’t be selfish. Jesus uses much stronger words to explain this, but when I meditate on it, I understand that Jesus wants me to not think so much about myself but about others, especially about those in need. There are people in this world that are very selfish, and they don’t care about others. This may even happen regarding the faith. Some would say, my faith -- my business, I am not sharing it with anyone else and I don’t care about others’ beliefs. How wrong! Jesus reminds us today that we can’t be selfish, we need to take care of others. But not only of their earthly needs, but also take care of their spiritual wellbeing.
