Tuesday of the 3 week of Lent ‘b’

“Forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us.” How many times while saying the Lord’s Prayer do we keep asking God to forgive us? All the time. We are only human beings. We are often being tempted, we do make mistakes, we do sin, and we do offend God and other people. And what does God do? He forgives us each and every time. But do I forgive the one who hurt me? Yes, maybe once, maybe two times, maybe a maximum oof three times, but certainly no more. There is a limit. The one who I forgave needs to learn that there is a limit to forgiveness. But today, Jesus teaches us that a Christian should have no limit in forgiving others, just like God has no limit in His forgiveness. “How often must I forgive? As many as seven times? Jesus answered, I say to you, not seven times but seventy-seven times.”
