Tuesday of the 6 week in ordinary time ‘b’

Mk 8:14-21

There are times when we expect others to understand what we are saying and to understand our actions in order that they can follow certain directions we are giving them. Especially when you are a teacher, a parent, a priest, a boss, or have another leadership or teaching position. You may think that others would follow your directions carefully, but there are times when they simply don’t get it. Guess what? Same thing happened to Jesus and His disciples. Many times, his followers just didn’t ‘get’ what He was teaching. Jesus had higher expectations of those who were close to Him, so that’s why He was surprised that they didn’t understand His preaching. “Do you not yet understand or comprehend? Do you have eyes and not see, ears and not hear?” There are times that Jesus is disappointed with me like that too and he says: how many times have I told you? How many times have I tried to explain it to you, through the scriptures, through the sacraments, through other people? Why do you still not understand? Yes, Jesus has high expectations from us Christians.
